Grave Exhumation is the process or act of digging up or removing the remains of a human being from the ground. This is most often done to relocate the deceased’s remains to a different burial spot, the process is not an easy task because any disturbance of buried human remains is considered illegal without the appropriate authority.

The reasons for exhumation must be sound or rational before the process can be executed, it made be personal, traditional or any other legal related issues but nevertheless appropriate authority must be acquired. Before exhumation can occur authority must be obtained from Premier of the Provincial Government, The Council, Provincial Department of Health, Administrator of Cemeteries and Council’s Medical Officer of Health.
